• 1 - Western Bhutan
• 2 - Central Bhutan
• 3 - Eastern Bhutan
• 4 - Southern Bhutan

Previous information said that Bhutanese vehicle registration plates had a group of three letters on the left, indicating the region and class of registration:

• BCG - Central region, Government vehicle
• BCT - Central region, Taxi
• BCP - Central region, Private vehicle
• BCH - Central region, Heavy vehicle

• BEG - Eastern region, Government vehicle
• BET - Eastern region, Taxi
• BEP - Eastern region, Private vehicle
• BEH - Eastern region, Heavy vehicle

• BWG - Western region, Government vehicle
• BWT - Western region, Taxi
• BWP - Western region, Private vehicle
